Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV Variant Comparison

Compare e.MAS 7 PHEV Prime, Premium and Premium Plus based on price, monthly instalment, electric range, charging speed, airbags and driver assistance. Prime and Premium share the same battery, so the first step up buys safety equipment rather than range.

Specifications are transcribed from the technical specification page of the official Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV brochure; prices are Peninsular Malaysia on-the-road prices without insurance, from the official price list (version April 2026), for private registration. A time-limited Special Launch Price of RM105,800, RM119,800 and RM125,800 was in effect at the time of writing and is not the price shown here. All range and fuel consumption figures are NEDC, an optimistic test cycle, and real figures vary with driving style, load and traffic. Both prices and specifications may change without notice, always confirm with an authorised Proton e.MAS outlet before purchase.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV Prime, Premium and Premium Plus?

Prime and Premium share the same 18.4 kWh battery and 105 km electric range. The RM14,000 step from Prime to Premium buys safety and comfort, not range: the rear ADAS suite, the seventh airbag, the 360 camera, front parking sensors, head-up display, wireless charging and the 16-speaker system. Premium Plus adds RM6,000 more for the 29.8 kWh battery, 170 km electric range and 60 kW DC charging.

Does the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV have 7 airbags?

Premium and Premium Plus do. Prime does not. All three have front, front side and side curtain airbags, but the far side airbag, the central airbag between the front seats, is fitted only from Premium upward. The seven-airbag figure in the marketing material does not describe the entry variant.

How far can the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV go on electric only?

105 km for Prime and Premium, and 170 km for Premium Plus, both on the NEDC cycle. Total range with a full charge and a full 51 litre tank is quoted as 1,000 km and 1,065 km, also NEDC. NEDC is an older and more optimistic test cycle than WLTP, so treat these as comparison figures rather than what you will see on the road.

What engine does the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV use?

A 1.5 litre four-cylinder Dedicated Hybrid Engine producing 73 kW and 125 Nm, paired with an 11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission and a 160 kW, 262 Nm electric motor. Combined output is 193 kW and 262 Nm, driving the front wheels. It offers Pure, Hybrid and Power drive modes.

How fast does the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV charge?

Prime and Premium accept up to 30 kW DC and take 20 minutes or less from 30% to 80%. Premium Plus accepts 60 kW and does the same in 16 minutes or less despite its larger battery. All three charge at up to 6.6 kW on AC.

Is the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV quicker than the fully electric e.MAS 7?

No. The PHEV does 0 to 100 km/h in 8.0 seconds for Prime and Premium, and 8.2 seconds for Premium Plus. The fully electric e.MAS 7 ranges from 6.9 to 7.6 seconds. The PHEV is the longer-range car overall because it also carries fuel, not the faster one.

Which Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV variant is worth it?

Premium is the one to look at first, because the step from Prime is safety equipment rather than trim: blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert and braking, and the extra airbag. Premium Plus only makes sense if you will genuinely use the extra 65 km of electric range, since the battery is the entire difference.
