Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Proton X90 Lite, Prime and Prime X?

Lite is the seven-seat entry point with faux leather, an analogue instrument cluster, a reverse camera and rear parking sensors only. Prime adds auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, front welcome lamps, a 10.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 6-way power driver's seat, a 360° HD camera with transparent view, TPMS and front parking sensors — still in a 2-3-2 seven-seat layout. Prime X switches to a six-seat 2-2-2 captain layout with Nappa leather, ventilated first- and second-row seats, driver lumbar support, a 4-way power passenger seat with Boss switch, ergonomic headrests and a front DVR.

Does the 2026 Proton X90 have ADAS or adaptive cruise control?

No. The 2026 MC X90 removed the entire Level 2 ADAS suite that was previously available on Premium-and-up trims. Lite, Prime and Prime X all have cruise control with a speed limiter — not adaptive cruise — plus 6 airbags, ABS/ESC/TCS and no AEB, lane keeping, blind-spot monitoring or cross-traffic alert.

Does Proton X90 Lite have a 360° camera?

No. Lite uses a conventional reverse camera with rear parking sensors. The 360° HD camera with 180° transparent view, TPMS and front parking sensors are Prime-and-up features.

What engine does the 2026 Proton X90 use?

The 2026 MC X90 uses Proton's i-GT 1.5TD four-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 181PS (133kW) at 5,500rpm and 290Nm from 2,000–3,500rpm, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive. It replaces the previous GEP3 1.5-litre three-cylinder with 48V mild-hybrid (190PS/300Nm).

What features are standard across all Proton X90 variants?

All three variants share the same i-GT 1.5TD engine and 7-speed wet DCT, multi-link rear suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, utility roof rails, 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone air-conditioning with G-Clean air purifier, independent rear air-conditioning, 7 USB ports, 6 airbags, ABS/ESC/TCS, intelligent entry, remote engine start and the same body dimensions (4,835 × 1,900 × 1,785 mm).

Is Proton X90 Prime X worth RM6,000 more than Prime?

Prime X suits buyers who want captain seats instead of a middle-row bench — easier third-row access in a six-seat 2-2-2 layout — plus Nappa leather, ventilated first- and second-row seats, driver lumbar support, a power passenger seat with Boss switch and a front DVR. If you need seven seats on the bench layout, Prime is the better pick; Prime X trades one seat for premium comfort.
